News and/or Rants!

Well everybody, Mile High Con 35 is over. As my turn to do the rant it is time to go over the con report.

On Friday, we got there, registered, and looked around. Unfortunately, the game room which is usually a good place to hang outin for about 8 to 12 hours was kind of lacking this year. No need to worry as we have gotten a good tour of the dealers room. At about 8ish we left for the night.

Saturday: First we had a Magic: the Gathering tournament. The guy in charge was nicknamed Zeo. He was cool. While both Di and I had entered. I was kicked out in the 1st round and Di was kicked out in the 2nd.There were only three rounds so it isn't as bad as it seems. The winner was an interesting person, and all was cool. I would write her name in the report but I can't remember it at all, I feel like such an ass. We ended up meeting these people all over the Con. They're like our groupies. :) After this point we went to the dealers room to buy things. I bought... A Sword! Its cool, but I won't have a pic up until at least Wednesday. Di bought some jewelry and a sarong. Pics for those won't be up until Wednesday either. Now with stuff and less money, we played Steve Jackson games in the Games Room. The guy in charge here was Mike. We played a couple games and were watching some Boffering going on. Boffering, is basically where 2 or more people get together with medieval weapons made out of foam and duel. I have been into this before but, I have not been participating. I did have some weapons, butt hey disappeared. So, after doing that we went back to the Dealers Room to check the price of new ones, as we both want to do this frequently. The price of as hort sword: $24! The price of what I would be using would be some where close to $30! We would have to get at least 3 plus a shield for us to be good. That is at least in the range of $150 to $200.The ones I made 3 for $30 and a shield. Now theirs do look better. But the ones I mad were cheap and an afternoons work... Anyway, we went and watched a SCA demonstration. It was cool. Di will go over it alot more than I will.

The last thing we did was buy some strawberry Pocky. Pocky is a Japanese candy that is apparently one of the best junk food items in Japan. Its good, I urge everyone to try some. We also have a C'thulu with us, well we brought him with us, and we have a pic of him eating Pocky. However, it didn't make it up to the website just yet... They will come up soon.

The over all rating of the Con: 4.15 out of 5.Reasons: The game room was slightly less spectacular than other years I attended, but I got some cool stuff. Also, the movie selection rocked! Can you guess what Arnold and Steven Spielberg have in common? They both helped on movie written by the same guy, Though I can't recall his name. He wrote Minority Report and Total Recall. Anyway, Now its time to chill, I am typing this after a big math test, a bike ride, and 2 classes, not to mention the Large Con I just finished describing to people... This also means no comic, sorry. :)

          Laters!
