News and/or Rants!

Hey everybody!

Jake here to kick off Di's story line... Ironic isn't it.. :) Any way, about band Championships. Pomona got an 84.something. that's my school. They got first. Di's school, Northglenn, got a 79.54. These people got 2nd.

Northglenn had a very bad state finals show. The had at least half a dozen people trip and fall, drop there instrument, etc. I don't know whether to feel bad for them, or for the other 6 schools that made it to finals that got under them. One point I have to make is that one fall raises your score. 6 usually makes your score fall. A lot. So either they lost enough points to get them first, or the judges gave them more pity points than we would like to think.

Pomona had a good show by comparison. I personally thought that the show was uninventive and a cut and paste marching wise of every single show I have been in since freshman year. They had the triangle mats from my senior year. Only they had 4 instead of 3. The name sounded almost identical to the show name last year, only it was about reflections instead of sound. About 40 members of the band at one point end up using triangle mirrors as large as a persons chest in a flashy display. I'll admit they did cool things with the mirrors. I also will say I saw another band do it only with diamond shaped mirrors about half the size my junior year at Regionals in Saint Louis. Also, the other band did not do as much as Pomona did, or as good either. But still, I saw several of the EXACT SAME marching moves that I myself did, in my senior show on top of that. the music sounded similar as well, but It always does so that is not a problem so much.

Final analysis of the contest: I think a new school, Legacy High School, should have gotten better than 4th, they were a lot better to me than either of our 2 schools. They were new and original. Although, I feel sorry for Northglenn, If they hadn't had their worst show I've ever seen they would have won. All in all, I think that there was something going on behind the scenes on this one that skewed the contest.

As you may have noticed, this is the beginning of Di's turn to do the script. She is now writing the script. If the comics start to have a different voice to you, that's normal. Just breathe, and keep reading. I am having fun taking a break from all the hassles of writing... (Well you would think so anyway.) You may also notice a different approach to the look of the comic. That will be explained in depth later. There is, however, a hint somewhere in the comic.

Which brings me to the comic. I can say that I despise MS Paint with a passion reserved mainly for, well, there is nothing that I can think of at this point that is worse than paint. NOTHING!

Well, enough of that! I would like to say that Mile High Con 35 is on Friday through Sunday! WOOT! This is the only con that I go to in a given year. (for now) I will have fun at it, and I am going to have a pic of Di and I posted on Friday before we go to the con. about 3ish or so I am thinking. If you can find us there we will say hi. Anyway, that is enough of a rant for me for now...

Laters!
